Orange Rolls


Comment -I heard about my Aunt Judy’s famous orange rolls for years before trying them. Now I understand why they get rave reviews.  They are amazingly good. It takes a long time to make them, but they are worth it.

Ingredients -
1 envelope dry yeast
1/4 cup very warm water
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter
3 1/2 cups Flour
2 Tbsp grated orange rind
Glaze -
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp orange juice
1/2 cup butter

Directions – Dissolve yeast in warm water then mix with wet ingredients before adding flour. Beat 1/4 cup sugar, salt, eggs, sour cream, and 6 Tbsp melted butter with electronic mixer. Gradually add 2 cups flour and knead until smooth. Let rise in a bowl until it doubles in size (about 2 hours). Again knead dough on well floured surface. about 15 times. Roll 1/ 2 of the dough in a 12 inch circle. Combine 3/4 cup sugar and orange rind. Brush dough with one Tbsp melted butter and sprinkle with half the rind and sugar mix. Cut into 12 wedges roll up starting with the wide end as cresents. place in greased 13″x9″ pan point side down. Cover and let rise, 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees 20 minutes. Top with glaze while still hot. Glaze: 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 Tbsp orange juice, 1/2 cup butter – combine and boil 3 minutes stirring constantly pour over.
